A Christmas Update

Christmas celebrations are over and done for another year. It just seems to slip by me so fast! We spend weeks preparing for the celebration of Christ's birth, weeks full of promise and hope. Then the big day is here with all it's joy and at times I can't help but feel a little bit of melancholy for the years when my children were young which is why I enjoyed my time with my grandchildren so much.

Christmas Day was spent with my two youngest sons, preparing the meal and sharing it with some close friends & neighbours.
We always have to wait until Bob returns from the church on Christmas Day to open our gifts so in the meantime the boys and I had an awesome time together in the kitchen. Dan and Chris helped prepare the vegetable pie. Not only did they cook, but they cleaned up the kitchen afterwards as well.

The past couple of years I've encouraged my eldest, Jeff, to stay home with his family. The weather is often poor for travelling and one year they spent 5 days on the road going from one family to another for their Christmas celebrations. That's just plain nuts! They only have the children for one full week during the Christmas break and then the kids go off to spend the second week with their other respective parents. I hated to see them spending all their time on the road rather than at home with the kids enjoying their Christmas. So instead we pack up the car and head to their place which is exactly what we did on the 27th.

We had a fantastic time watching the children enjoy their gifts and catching up with Jeff & Pascale. It's rare that all three of my sons are together at one time so it was even more special. Here are some pics from our time together.

PICK UP STICKS!
GAG JOKES

The jokes also included a whoopy cushion which brought about great squeals of delight!
What could it be?
This gift made sounds and had a hole in the wrapping paper from being handled so much. The kids patched it up with duct tape before it was opened. What's inside? See below!

PERPLEXUS BALLS

Honestly, this gift kept them entertained for hours! Each ball contains different tracks along which a ball bearing must be maneuvered from start to finish. I've never seen the kids so quiet!

FINALLY, SOMETHING WITH OUR NAMES!

TRYING TO GRAB A HUG!
PASCALE'S YUMMY BUFFET!
I gave each of the girls a beginner's Xstitch kit
A BUDDING X-STITCHER!
GRANDMA AND HER GIRLS
PETIT MINOU CURIEUX
meaning Little Curious Cat
NO. 1  TORONTO MAPLE LEAF FAN
PETIT MINOU GRIS  WHO FLAKED OUT AFTER DINNER
meaning Little Grey Cat (who weighs about 20 lbs!)
The cat in the above photo is a stray who actually followed Jeff's family across town when they moved. Someone had to have been feeding him because at one time he weighed close to 30 lbs! He is slowly losing weight now.

It was all about family and a day I won't forget.
Thanks for taking the time to drop by. I hope you all had an amazing Christmas. I'll be back later today with a stitch update.

Tell Bob that is the ugliest sweater I've ever seen... it would surely win an ugly sweater contest ;-)
