A new start and a new car

Thank you all so very much for your comments and the condolences left for us in regards to our dear pet's passing. Stitchers truly are an amazing group of people. Your heartfelt comments meant more to me than you will ever know. This is the first time in years that I have been without a cat. I've had cats for as long as I can remember and I know that I will have another, sooner rather than later. They are a big part of my life and for me they are my biggest stress outlet (next to cross stitching!). I honestly believe that had I not had cats I would not be the person that I am today. They comfort and soothe and give love unconditionally. Now that my sons have grown and left home and with Finnigan gone I find the house too lonely. My DH is gone most evenings with rehearsals and I'm left to my own devices. My intention is not to replace Finnigan per se because nothing ever will, but to bring in another kitty for company. I'll know when I'm ready.

My weekend was a very quiet one after all that happened. We cancelled our Super Bowl get together with the choir and rescheduled it for two weeks from now. I did very little stitching , just didn't feel like it. I do have a pic of my new Valentine start, most of which I'd stitched last week. It's a fairly quick stitch which I've been enjoying and hope to have it complete by the end of next week. I might have had it done by this weekend but we are expecting house guests and I'll be busy for a few days.

Also managed to get a pic finally of my new car. I had to wait until I'd had it washed to get rid of all the road salt which had accumulated already. That plus I needed a picture during daylight which can often be difficult since I leave home in the dark and quite often it's dark when I return. Anyways, here it is. It may look black but it is actually a dark blue-gray. It's a 2009 Mazda 3 and I do love it. I had snow tires put on right away with their own rims so the wheels don't look quite as good as when the regular wheels are on.
Gotta love that new car smell though!
Have a great week everyone.

  1. Pretty new car:) Lookin' good in your new ride girl!
Pretty progress on your Valentine start! Great floss choice!
If you were close, I'd send our puppy girl Lizzie over to give you a face full of wet puppy kisses to make your heart hurt less. You will find another kitty to love when you're ready:)

  2. Hi Lynn,

    Hope the love and compassion
that was sent to you from all
    your stitching friends helped
to ease the ache of loosing
    sweet Finnigan. Somewhere
    out there is another kitty
    who will someday take it's
    place as rightful ruler of
    your home and your heart.
    You're so right about kitties
    making wonderful, loving
    companions

    Your Valentine's heart is
    gorgeous!! I love the shade
of red that you chose to
    stitch this with.

And the new car looks very
nice. Hope you get a lot of
enjoyment out of it. Too bad
    this nasty winter doesn't
allow it to keep it's shiny,
    bright exterior for long. With
all the snow we've been getting
it's almost a waste of time
    washing the car these days.

    Cheers!

  4. What a lovely new car :) So in the summer time are you going to show us a picture of you draped across the hood in your bikini with the summer tires on :) I think it looks like a car where a girl could do that! Like think about a big old Ford Windstar Minivan...that vehicle doesn't lend itself to me draping myself across the hood in a bikini! LOL!

    Love your valentines heart!

And Lynn, I must have missed the post about your kitty's passing. I'm so sorry dear heart. I hope your sadness soon turns to joy when you welcome a new kitty in your life, and that your memories of Finnigan are always full of fondness and smiles.

  5. Finnegan will always remain in your heart, and soon enough you will find room there for another kitty as well. Pets are such excellent companions.

Your new car is very nice and almost as pretty as your new Valentine start.

  9. Lynn I know what you mean, about not replacing Finnigan. A new cat can never replace a lost pet, but we find a new and special place in our hearts for them. I'm sure you'll find the right cat at the right time.

    Ooh new car smell!

Your heart is looking great, I've stitched that one.

  10. Dear Lynn, I'm sooo sorry about your dear friend and cat, Finnagan's passing. I know just how grieving that can be. I hope your heart feels better and you can welcome a new kitten when it's time.

Meantine, your Valentine stitching is lovely. I love your use of varigated thread and fabric choice. It's very pretty.

Wishing you a sweet and relaxed Valentine's Day, dear friend.
    Hugs,
    Deb

  14. Oh yeah, you're looking real good in that new car! I remember the thrill and excitement when we got our new car a few years back. It'll be another ten at least before we think about another! :D
