At a Snail's Pace

That's how I feel about my stitching lately. There's either just not enough time to pick it up or when I do, I'm so tired that very few stitches get put in. I'm just plodding along.
Yesterday was a bit better and last night while watching TV I managed to get a significant amount done on Ghoul's Tiding. Clarisse contributed the leaf to the picture. She dug it out of a display of dried leaves, berries and gourds that is sitting on an end table. I took it away from her just as I snapped the picture and it landed on my work!

This piece is moving along at a better pace now although it will slow down some since I will start my Torah stitch again this week.
I've finally decided on borders and colours  for the Torah although the colour scheme may change somewhat as I'm stitching. We have a selection of 7 DMC floss to use for our border in addition to the 310 we used for the main stitching. They have allowed the use of 223, 729, 731, 816, 917, 3750 and 3810. I'm starting with 3750 and 3810 for my side borders. The side border can only be 5 stitches wide so that there is still enough room left for attaching all the other contributing pieces. No top border is allowed but I have lots of room at the bottom of my piece for a large border or perhaps several smaller borders. I should have pictures for you by next week.

I also started a Christmas ornament on Halloween but haven't had the time to put in anymore than what you see in this pic.

This is a Little House Needleworks design, Peppermint Twist and I'm stitching it over one on a piece of unidentified linen. It's a natural linen and I believe it's a 25 ct.

While I was getting ready to upload my pictures for this post, I left my computer briefly to find my camera USB for uploading. I returned from my hunt to find someone had joined me at my workstation.

Miss Clarisse has made herself quite at home knowing that she's not allowed on the dining room table. She seems to think that just because my DH isn't here at the moment that she can get away with anything. She got down in a hurry when I put down my camera and proceeded to clap my hands and holler at her. Who does she think she is, the queen, lol? All I know is that she's been trouble today from the minute I got up. I'm off now to chase her down and retrieve one of my floss bags from her. Wish me luck!

Edited: Here's where I found Clarisse. Look at the eyes and you can tell she's got the devil in her today!

  1. I hope you find time to do some stitching this week - I've started a rotation to see if I get more done.

She does look like she is up to mischief - our Ruby dog has that look, most days !!

  4. Slow progress is still progress Lynn, I think sometimes it's harder for the stitcher to see than the viewer!
I enjoyed stitching Ghoul Tidings but did lose my chart so my finish wasn't the complete design :(
What perfect timing for the autumn leaf to fall as and where it did.
Love Peppermint Twist and although I have the chart it still hasn't made it to the top of the stash box!

What fabric are you stitching it on? The colors really pop on it.

  16. Haha...Clarisse :) My Chatty gets into my stuff all the time and drags them up stairs goes through his cat door drops whatever he's stolen (or brought to me) and stands by it and mournfully meows until I go Chatty, what's wrong and he shows me what he's brought me...usually it is scraps from my bin....when I leave he gets angry and brings up loads of stuff for me to haul back to the basement....he's a mess! As I'm sure I can see a pitchfork I Miss Clarisse today too! LOL!

Your stitching is gorgeous Lynn...I really want to start that Witch, but I've got big plans for December on my blog so I'm busy trying to get ready for that!

  23. I was just at a stitching retreat and the inn's owner had two resident kitties. What a treat to stitch with them by my side :) Clarisse is such a beauty, Lynn!! Lovely stitching, too :)

  24. My stitching is going at a snails pace also. Life and all other crafts get in the way. I do love your witch.

  25. Miss Clarisse is gorgeous. How could you turf her off the table with an adorable face like that? Our 2 aren't allowed on tables either and would have got the same treatment. Why do they insist on going to the one place we don't want them?

  26. I've just been browsing through all the blog posts that you wrote while I was away on vacation. I can see a PSS pattern there, lol, but then she is a wonderful designer and I also love nearly all her designs.
You have some considerable progress on some of your projects although you said that you didn't stitch a lot in October. I'm looking forward to seeing what border you choose for your Torah block.
You also could spend some time with your grandchildren. It must have been such a lot of fun at the Pumpkin Inferno. Great pictures!
